Facilitator for Presbyterian Response in Haiti

Organization: World Mission

Location: Louisville, Kentucky

Ecumenical Partner: FONDAMA, MPP, EEH, others

Pattern of Service: Mission Co-worker

Position description: CURRENTLY INTERVIEWING CANDIDATES. The position will coordinate in country the numerous church and other groups of visitors and volunteers coming to Haiti to work and study in response to the earthquake in Haiti, as part of "Walking with Haiti, Walking with Christ" long-term PC(USA) response.

Essential job tasks and responsibilities: Coordinate mission group visits: Identify partners, match groups with partners, logistical coordination and organizing on the ground all that is needed to make the stay and work of the groups effective, plan the educational program and itinerary with the trip leaders and communities or institutions to be visited, accompany the groups with interpretation, biblical and contextual reflection, evaluate, work closely with and regularly report to partners and WM/CPJ.
Assist in the development of partnership relationships between Haitian communities and PC(USA) entities.
Learn and provide training opportunities for Haitian and US partners, as requested, on hosting groups, and on themes like partnership, root causes of hunger, sustainable develpment, fare trade, etc.
Communicate regularly with the PC(USA) concerning PC(USA) groups, partnerships, and other work being performed.
Participate in PC(USA) mission interpretation efforts, including writing regular newsletters, doing itineration at scheduled intervals, and participate in mission training events or conferences, as requested.

Mission description: Specific positions have been designed by World Mission to give a stronger presence to our partners and to provide them with closer links to our programs and entities. Many of these positions are also designed to help members and governing bodies of the Presbyterian Church (U.S.A.) have a closer connection to our partners and be involved in mission in healthy ways.

Required experience, licenses and certifications: Experience in applied social science or a masters in that field.

Ecclesiastical status:

Required education and languages: Must speak at least French, and possibly French Creole.

Housing: Housing would be provided. Mission worker would choose housing in consultation with the partners. Masters degree in Social Science
