Position description: This Program Assistant position helps the Program Directors in the best functioning of Meeting Ground’s facilities as a place of hospitality, community, and reintegration into society. The primary focus is to help individuals and families in difficulty transition back into the community and lead successful lives.
Essential job tasks and
responsibilities:
Assist with the planning of the weekly Chapel Service; invite and schedule guest preachers; supervise a weekly Bible Study; assist residents who need help finding transportation to a local house of worship; assist residents in their personal spiritual development; supervise a weekly spiritual activity geared toward children and/or youth; identify, recruit and retain appropriate relationship skills tutors (parenting, anger management, etc.); solicit participation of local churches in the spiritual life of Meeting Ground; train volunteers to be spiritual mentors to residents who express a desire for assistance; assist residents in attending regular NA/AA/Celebrate Recovery Meetings; assist parents who wish to have their children participate in local church children/youth activities.
All Program Assistants will be responsible for the following:
Resident Support: Help with the moving in and orientation of new residents; Provide transportation for residents if approved by supervisor; Be aware of medical conditions of our residents and how these affect those in the community; Help with residents moving out.
Leadership and Facilitation: Help answer phones and keep track of potential resident inquiries; Help with administrative duties as assigned; Attend and assist with regular meetings – community, staff, program, etc.; Assist with the development of the spiritual life of the community; Maintain standards and procedures to ensure individual privacy and confidentiality within and outside the community; Maintain all Meeting Ground site rules and procedures to ensure continuity within the community; Be a positive role model for residents in words, actions and attitudes.
Community Involvement: Help with donations - picking up donations and receiving donations brought to Meeting Ground; Build positive relationships with community organizations that provide services for our residents; Help build positive relationships with donors, visitors and short-term volunteers.
Other General Duties: Any task or duty, not limited to above, which may be assigned by the respective Program Director.

Description of program location:
We have an emergency shelter and the transitional housing in the city of Elkton. Clairvaux Farm is located 15 miles south from Elkton in a real rural setting. All shelters are located in Cecil County Maryland close to the line to Delaware and Pennsylvania.
