Position description: The volunteers are placed in the metropolitan city of Daejeon, in the central region of the country. During the current phase of rapid economic growth in Korea, many sectors of Korea developed in uneven pace resulting in large gaps between communities. YAV placements are selected and designed to offer opportunities to young adult volunteers to recognize these disparate circumstances and contribute to the community with Christian perspectives. Intensive language training will be offered at the beginning of the service year. Most placements will include teaching or assisting with the English language and participation in the worship lives of local churches. Some volunteers will work alongside Korean young adult partners.

Essential job tasks and responsibilities: The volunteers will be placed in educational institutions, local churches, after-school programs and community development programs. Individual assignments will be shaped with sufficient flexibility to enrich the volunteer’s experience and personal growth while at the same time witnessing Christ’s love in the community.
