Position description: This position will enhance the opportunities for PC(USA) congregations to participate in the joint mission of the INPM (National Presbyterian Church of Mexico) and the PC(USA) at Laredos Unidos Presbyterian Border Ministry (PBM) through assisting in coordination/facilitation of the Mission Team Ministry.

Essential job tasks and responsibilities: - Assist mission teams with pre-visit planning and preparation.
- Help interpret Mission Goals of PBM and Laredos Unidos program participants
- Help plan, schedule, and implement activities for mission teams in accord with the goals and objectives of Laredos Unidos' Mission Participation Program.


Mission description: Presbyterian Border Ministry (PBM)is a joint labor of the PCUSA and the National Presbyterian Church of Mexico. It is called to share a holistic gospel with those who live along the 2,000 mile US/Mexico border, by respoinding to spiritual, emotional, physical and material needs. Visiting mission groups learn about the spiritual, cultural, and social benefits of striving for mutual mission.
Programs: new church development, ministries of compassion, mission education through mission team visits and promoting justice in all areas.

Length of service:  11 months

End date:  05/2007

Required education and languages: Conversational Spanish is required.

Position benefits: A supportive working environment. Risk management secondary health insurance will be provided for the duration of the time spent volunteering. Volunteer is responsible for their own primary health insurance.

Housing:  Needs to find own housing..Laredos Unidos/Amistad board will help in this process.
